The Scalar 100 is a mid-range external SCSI tape library that offers a powerful combination of industry-leading density, trouble-free scalability, and advanced storage networking technology. This capacity-packed system delivers a storage density of 2TB per rack unit, and a standard rack cabinet can hold three Scalar 100s, giving you more than 86TB of capacity in a very compact space. This model has 15 slots and no pre-installed drives, enabling you to configure it to suit your needs, with up to six SDLT tape drives. It offers a maximum native storage capacity of 1.65TB (3.3TB with 2:1 compression) and a native data transfer rate of 11MB/s (22MB/s compressed). It is backward compatible with DLT4000, DLT7000, DLT8000 and DLT1 tapes, while the status LCD gives you instant operation feedback and the included barcode reader helps inventory control. It features a 32MB buffer and an MTBF rating of 250,000 power-on hours.Highly scalable, the Scalar 100 can grow from 1-6 drives and from 15-96 tapes. Adding capacity is easy, and upgrades take less than 10 minutes and don't require changing your rack system or adding external elevators or pass-through ports. Its integrated storage networking support improves the performance and reliability of SAN backup and delivers a complete capacity, connectivity, and management solution for new SAN technologies such as iSCSI.
